After earning her bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Tracy moved to Brazil and Argentina, where she spent six years honing her skills as an ESL teacher. She worked with a wide range of students, from children to adults, across different cultural and professional backgrounds.
Upon returning to the United States, Tracy joined Be Fluent NYC, where she focused on developing specialized curricula for the Japanese expat community in New York City. Her work has been particularly impactful for young learners who need to acquire English quickly, including recent arrivals to the US, as well as bilingual, neurodivergent, and gifted students.
Tracy's innovative teaching methods often incorporate music, using her guitar and ukulele to create an engaging and joyful learning environment, especially for younger children.
Beyond her work in education, Tracy has also explored the field of design, particularly in product design and instructional design, which has further enriched her ability to create tailored, student-centered learning experiences. Tracy’s commitment to lifelong learning and her creative approach to teaching have made her a sought-after educator.
Tracy currently resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with her cat, Lulu. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and practicing yoga.
Katie is an experienced educator with a rich background in early childhood education.
Katie received her masters in Early Childhood Education in 2013; and went on to teach kindergarten and first grade for almost a decade. It was during this time that she discovered the world of possibilities that was opened up to her students- once they were able to successfully decode text, understand story elements, and make personal connections to stories and characters. Katie has experience with teaching in the classroom, small group online learning, and personal tutoring, both online and in-person.
Katie first started working with children as an after-school nanny during high school. She continued to nanny throughout college at Lehigh University and Colorado State University; where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts. Katie studied art in Italy for a summer, and continues to have a passion for drawing and painting, which she often incorporates into her lessons.
Katie eventually moved back to Massachusetts to pursue her ,aster's Degree in Early Childhood Education, inclusive to students with or without disabilities at Fitchburg State University. She went on to teach in both kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Katie worked with countless students and families to help increase and expand their literacy skills. She continues to currently work as a tutor, both online and in-person, in the Boston MetroWest area.
Katie is dedicated to meeting each student at their personal level of learning. Using materials that peak student interests, along with positive reinforcement, Katie makes the learning process enjoyable and engaging. Additionally, Katie maintains open communication with families, keeping them informed about their child's progress, the goals being set, and the skills being developed, ensuring a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Katie currently lives with her husband, dog, and cat outside of Boston. She enjoys reading, painting, cooking, hiking, paddleboarding, and traveling.
